Meals On Wheels Serves Chair Yoga Before Lunch

Meals on Wheels Friendship CafeYou Call This Yoga (YCTY) has partnered with Meals On Wheels of Wake County (MOW) to provide a weekly “appetizer” of chair yoga before lunch at three Raleigh Friendship Cafes. This thrilling breakthrough of in-person classes began in January 2022. Current locations are the St. Saviour’s Center and the Five Points Center for Active Adults.

With the students masked and socially spaced, yoga teacher Anjana Rathores currently provides a combination of stretching, movement and breathing. YCTY’s Amy Rockwell will teach at Redeeming Love Missionary Baptist Church when it reopens in March.

YCTY participants at Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels of Wake County is an ideal partner for YCTY. It provides safe space, support team, recruitment of students and funding for YCTY’s teachers. MOW routinely delivers and serves essential nourishment and social engagement for anyone 60+ years old.

You can learn more about the yoga program by viewing a brief video introduction from Sharon Lawson, Director of Program Services. She shares how the classes have helped her relieve stress during the pandemic and help the participants with routine movements in their daily activities.

Then, check out the class in this delightful video on Spectrum News.
