Hispanic Heritage Yoga

October is Hispanic Heritage Month. We welcomed everyone to join us in celebration of the Latinx/Hispanic community with a FREE in-person class. Held outdoor at the Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, the class was for all levels of ability, led in both Spanish and English by our talented bi-lingual instructor Karla Vallecillo.

You Call This Yoga celebrated Pride and the LGBTQIA+ community with a free, gentle yoga class. We met at Durham Central Park for 45 minutes of mindful movement. All were welcome on a beautiful evening for an outdoor event that was socially distanced with masks optional.

We kept successful online program of free yoga, six days a week, throughout the summer with specific classes for veterans, people touched by cancer, the BIPOC community, and Spanish speakers. Everyone, beginner to expert, could benefit from our healing sessions to improve their mobility, range of motion, stability, and balance. Check out the schedule in English and Spanish.
Spring Into Well-Being
April 9 — June 20
We continued our global offerings with free classes, presented online, in real time, led by our outstanding teachers from NC and around the world. Our outreach included veterans, people touched by cancer, the BIPOC community, and Spanish speakers with Chair, Gentle & Active Mat, Meditation classes. Check out the schedule in English and Spanish.

We started the new year by adding a class on Sunday, a class in Spanish, and expanding our global reach. Classes were for all levels of ability, beginner to expert, each 1-hour long, presented online, in real time, and were led by outstanding teachers from around the world. Season of Giving Silent Auction
December 2-11, 2020
For 10 days in December, people could view, bid on, or buy any of the wonderful offerings from our generous sponsors. These included: delightful retreats to the NC beach and mountains, yoga props and accessories, yoga teacher training, experiences to improve your health, and more. We raised a total of $5,100 that will help us fund free, accessible yoga worldwide.
Season of Giving Virtual Fundraiser
December 1, 2020
On December 1st, Giving Tuesday, we held Virtual Fundraiser and raised $4,700 to apply toward our programming for 2021. The all-day webinar featured 11 free yoga classes, for all levels of ability, beginner to expert, led by our outstanding local teachers with a variety of styles. Interspersed with the classes were interviews, presentations, and raffles for fun prizes.
Autumn Harvest of Yoga 2020
September 18 — December 11
We continued our free, accessible yoga classes throughout the fall months. Offered Monday through Saturday, they were a great way for people to begin or continue a regular yoga practice.
Again, these classes were for all levels of ability, beginner to expert, each 1-hour long, presented online, in real time. They were led by our outstanding local teachers with a variety of styles.

August 28-30 2020
Our third online YogaFest, the weekend of August 28-30, offered 18 yoga classes taught by 18 different teachers from around the world.
Again, the classes were one hour long, online, in real time, with the same wide variety of styles for all levels of ability. They included myofascial release, hip hop rhythms, and classes for families, youth, and people in wheelchairs.
Summer of Love 2020

Our free, accessible yoga classes, offered Monday through Saturday, all summer long, were a great way to establish a regular yoga practice.
These classes were for all levels of ability, beginner to expert, each 1-hour long, presented online, in real time. They were led by our outstanding local teachers with a variety of styles.

June 26-28 2020
Building on our first success, we hosted our second online YogaFest the weekend of June 26-28 with 15 yoga classes taught by 15 different teachers, this time from around the world.
The classes were also one hour long, online, in real time with the same wide variety of styles for all levels of ability. We spread the classes out over 3 days and moved the format from Zoom meetings to Zoom webinars for smoother delivery.

In May, we hosted our first online YogaFest featuring 24 yoga classes taught by 24 different teachers from the USA and Canada.
The classes were each one hour long, presented online, in real time. There were twelve classes from 8 am to midnight, EDT, offered on both days. They covered a wide variety of styles — meditation, gentle, active, chair, chanting, yin yoga, and more — for all levels of ability, beginner to expert.
YogaFest NC 2020
In March 2020, for the safety of the community, we canceled YogaFest NC. This annual retreat at the McKinnon Center has been the largest yoga event in the Triangle area. We plan to bring back the magic on March 20, 2021.
