The instructor will guide participants through a series of gentle stretches and basic yoga poses adapted to be done while seated or with the aid of a chair, with the aim of enhancing participants’ flexibility, strength, balance, range of motion, and sense of community and wellbeing.

Chairs, blocks, and straps will be provided. Water, tea, and light snacks will be available after class.

6:00PM: Gentle Mat Yoga (Boone)

This gentle, all-levels mat class will begin with a slow warm-up that will help us become grounded and focused on our breathing. We will gradually move into a sequence of seated, standing, and reclining postures that foster flexibility, balance, and strength, using our breath to guide our movement. Suggestions will be offered for modifying and substituting poses to enhance participants’ comfort and benefit. We will conclude with a period of reclining rest and reflection.

10:00AM: Chair & Standing Yoga in Spanish (Online)

This is an inclusive gentle class designed for anyone focusing on healing and stress reduction, regardless of his/her condition or level of physical ability. This class integrates asanas (seated and standing), breathing practices, mindfulness, guided meditation, and relaxation techniques, all as a therapy not only for the body but for the mind and soul, allowing you to feel both relaxed and energized at the same time. Focusing beyond postural practice the class seeks to offer through Yoga, a sanctuary, a laboratory, an opportunity, a place for contemplation, and the expression of compassion and respect for ourselves and for life itself. It is also an opportunity to cultivate ease in the body and quiet in the mind, which will give you a greater sense of wellbeing. Recommended props: a mat, a sturdy, stable chair, a blanket, and a pillow.

Esta es una clase inclusiva y suave diseñada para cualquier persona que se enfoque en la sanación y la reducción del estrés, independientemente de su condición o nivel de habilidad física. Esta clase integra posturas -asanas- (sentadas y de pie), prácticas de respiración, atención plena, meditación guiada y técnicas de relajación, todo como una terapia no solo para el cuerpo, sino también para la mente y el alma, permitiendo sentirse tanto relajado como energizado al mismo tiempo.
