On the Road to Durham

This week was a bittersweet trip to Durham from Raleigh. It was the final class for 2026. This has been a very successful six months of enhancing community wellbeing with outdoor yoga. We averaged 59 students per class!

The teacher team of Karla Vallecillo and Shakira Bethea alternated each week. They provided English/Spanish and English spoken instruction with a very relaxed vibe. The support volunteers of Cindy, Kelly and Chris welcomed attendees, took attendance and made life simpler for the teachers beforehand, and after class by managing the yoga props. I cherish their consistent participation and passion as part of our team.

We went out for a light dinner after class with our Ambassador Kelly, who works to find us a sponsor and encourages others to fund classes. Kelly is an attendee who also donates to YCTY. Thank you Kelly for your support and promotion of accessible yoga.

I still have the props in my car, several days later, as I am not ready for the fun to end.

But I will remove them soon. Meanwhile I have an afterglow from seeing so many people continue to join us in a shared, healthy experience at Durham Central Park.

We greatly appreciate their donating the space to bring Durhamites together. Thank you Erin and team. I look forward to our return in April 2027.
