Julie Smith

Julie discovered Pilates and yoga as a way to correct long-held imbalances from equestrian injuries. Devoted to the work, she began the certification process in 2006. She holds Pilates mat and equipment certifications through PhysicalMind and Power Pilates, and completed Prenatal and Postnatal Pilates specializations. She is a certified Gyrotonic instructor, embracing the Kundalini yoga principles in this method. 

She received her 200RYT through Buti yoga with Bizzie Gold, and has continued her education with Nina Be, Stephanie Keach, and Tamal Dodge. She created Better Barre, a functional, Pilates focused Barre method taught at her Barre Up! studio in Raleigh. She loves communicating the culmination of these methods in her classes, and especially enjoys the liberation, joy, and release of teaching and participating in Buti yoga.
