Gong Bath (open to all)

Leader:  Alisha Nissenfeld

Of all the instruments used in sound healing, the Gong is perhaps the most powerful and the most mysterious. Gong Baths, also called Gong Meditations, are deeply nourishing and restorative. Through the intense vibrations of sound, the body and mind are able to relax and surrender to the healing energies of the Gong. The Gong vibrates at the same frequency as the body, allowing students to experience deep healing on all levels of being as vibrations pass over and through them, leaving them feeling balanced, peaceful, and light. During this healing and rejuvenating experience, students will relax comfortably. No water is used in a Gong Bath; just enjoy the experience of vibrations washing over you!

In this mat-based, gentle class we will explore breathing practices that invite relaxation, slow stretches and movement to create openness in the body, and meditation to help settle the mind. Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to balance more active yang practices because you hold poses for longer periods of time, with a focus on deeper connective tissues of the body at your joints. The gift of this practice, however, lies not only in creating space in the body, but also in your heart and mind. It is a gateway to Svadyaya or self-reflection, the fourth Niyama, one of the eight limbs of yoga. As you stay in the poses in silence, you are invited to explore self-awareness as you witness your experience without judgment. In this particular practice, we’ll focus on the Manipura Chakra at the solar plexus, and the related stomach and spleen meridians. Accessible for all levels.
